Do you know Your TEXTure? Read on......

Its become very popular for women to begin their journeys to become natural. A lot of women are still flirting with the idea but don't think that they can ween themselves off the creamy crack... I remember when the movie "Good Hair" came out. When I saw it, it was four friends... 3 females and 1 male. We sat and watched it. We discussed and laughed, and thought. At the time I believe the three of us females had already began down our road to our natural locs......So the scene of Chris Rock being told what a Relaxer consists of did not scare us like it did so many women.
I can recall so many conversations I had been apart of and hearing the thoughts and fears of girls and women and their new found declarations! That movie was their epiphany to become one with their natural hair and leave the chemicals alone. NOW it was funny hearing the "I can't take it, my hair is just too nappy" comments. Now a days I can't stand to hear someone say that they have nappy hair. I was taught that hair is not nappy, but overly curly!
Overly curly????? You ask.... Yes!!!! That kitchen back there, the buck shots, beaded bees, whatever you wanna call it, its overly curly hair! Its your new growth that has grown out, and grown into its natural state. Do you know your texture? Can you identify the type of hair that grows out of your head like the way you can go identify different shades, curl patterns and colors of weave????? No? Let me help you!

                                         4 Types of Hair Textures.....
This was originally broken down and brought to the forefront for understanding by Celebrity Hairstylist Andre Walker. Because of the difference of the types its best to know and identify your type when choosing products, and procedures to be done to your hair, and what best matches your lifestyle to help you transition from relaxed to natural if that is your agenda.

Type 1a

Straight (Fine/Thin) - Hair tends to be very Soft, Shiny, difficult to hold a curl, hair also tends to be oily, and difficult to damage.

Hair has lots of volume & body.
